How Public Prosecutor Sunil Hande Single Handedly Restored Punekars Faith in Judiciary

MPID Court rejects bail plea of Bunty & Babli - DSK & Hemanti:

How Public Prosecutor Sunil Hande Single Handedly Restored Punekars Faith in Judiciary

A Special Court for Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act on Wednesday rejected anticipatory bail application of Deepak Sakharam Kulkarni and his wife Hemanti in the multi-crore default and cheating case.

On Tuesday, Mr Hande had told the Court that he did not receive any documents from the investigating officer (IO) - Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Kurundkar - and hence needed more time for argument.

Reportedly, the IO did not provide necessary information to Special PP Hande for the argument. Mr Hande, himself contacted several investors and blog run by Pune-based Right to Information (RTI) activist Vijay Kumbhar and obtained all information about DSK Group. Based on the information about DSK Group's filing on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) website, and documents from Reserve Bank of India, Mr Hande successfully opposed bail plea of DK Kulkarni and his wife, we learned.

Also the Police reportedly did not insist on presence of Mr Kulkarni and his wife during the hearing of their anticipatory bail application in the Court today. This may have allowed the Kulkarnis to avoid arrest for few more days after their bail was rejected. The Kulkarnis are most likely to approach the Bombay High Court against the order of the Special MPID Court.
